The Male

Gold leaf was used to represent the strength of the male Torso , The beauty that man brings to our world .

Working with gold leaf introduced another dimension to the paintings. Its reflective qualities brought warmth, luminosity and a sense of movement to the surface, changing with the light and the position of the viewer.

Moving from miniature works to a larger canvas offered an opportunity to explore these qualities on a different scale, giving the figure a stronger physical presence while retaining the intimacy and sensuality that first inspired the series.
