LANDSCAPE STUDIES
This series of landscape studies was inspired by a road trip to the very top of New Zealand's North Island. The breathtaking views across Ninety Mile Beach and Spirits Bay, and the magical effect of shifting light after rain, transformed the colours of the landscape in a way that left a lasting impression.
Developed in my Matakana studio, these works emerged from memories of that journey. Working intuitively with texture, gesture and layered colour, I explored ways to capture the atmosphere and feeling of the landscape rather than its literal appearance, translating memories of place into something more tactile and abstracted.
