IMMERSED IN COLOUR

Created during the uncertainty and isolation of lockdown (2020), Immersed in Colour became a welcome escape into a world of beauty, energy and light.

Colour has always been at the heart of Silk's practice. Often described as a colourist, she is deeply affected by its vibrations and the profound emotional responses it can evoke. For Silk, becoming lost in colour is an almost magical experience, one that continues to inform and inspire her work.

Comprising five paintings — White, Green, Blue, Orange and Magenta — the series explores the individual energy and atmosphere of each colour. Gold leaf introduces a reflective quality, catching and shifting with the light, creating moments of luminosity that invite the viewer to connect with their own inner light.

At a time when the outside world felt uncertain, Immersed in Colour offered a space for joy, contemplation and the simple pleasure of experiencing colour in its purest form.
