ENERGY
These works emerged independently, each reflecting a different emotional period in Silk's life. Rather than belonging to a particular series, they were created from an instinctive need to put something onto paper or canvas.
The human figure becomes a means of exploring feelings that are often difficult to articulate. Through gesture, colour and form, each painting holds something of the moment in which it was created — sometimes vulnerable, sometimes intense, sometimes quietly reflective.
Together, these works offer a more intimate glimpse into Silk's practice, where painting becomes a way of processing experience and giving form to emotion.

Born from a deeply personal experience, this painting explores the desperate human need to find satisfaction in something outside ourselves. Whether through sex, love, food, substances or the desire to be wanted, we seek to fill an emptiness that never quite disappears.
The work uses the intimacy of the human body as a metaphor for desire, dependency and the endless cycle of wanting more. It explores the tension between pleasure and desperation, connection and consumption — the way something that promises fulfilment can ultimately leave us feeling even more empty.
Rooted in expressionism, the painting is less concerned with physical reality than with the raw emotional experience of longing, and the unsettling question of whether we can ever truly have enough.
