STUDY IN GREY
Abstraction has always been a recurring thread throughout Silk's practice, a place she returns to instinctively, allowing ideas, emotions and observations to find expression beyond representation.
Driven by an urge to explore new ways of seeing, Silk channels the energy of the world around her into her work. Mark-making becomes both an exploration and a release, a way of expressing what cannot always be articulated through recognisable forms.
Sometimes playful, sometimes raw, sometimes luminous, these works are guided by a single thread: a devotion to uncovering the beauty, power and strangeness that live within the surfaces around us, and how a mark can express the story within.
Abstraction remains a place Silk continually returns to, to investigate colour, experiment with technique and discover new ways of seeing.
