The circle has long been a recurring form in Silk's practice, representing wholeness, continuity and inclusion. In Blue, she challenges these ideals, using the circle to express the madness, conflict and contradictions she sees unfolding in the world.

Through restless, overlapping circular gestures, Silk releases the accumulated tension of contemporary life onto the canvas. Blue becomes the emotional language of the series, its depth and intensity reflecting the confusion, frustration and unease of the times, while giving these feelings a powerful and compelling visual presence.
